Lagos-Ibadan railway to be operational in 2018 — Amaechi

The Minister for Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, has that the Lagos-Ibadan railway project would be completed by 2018 as part of government’s commitment to boosting multi-modal transport system in the country.

Mr. Ameachi who spoke at the first traffic radio lecture in Lagos, also said the Lagos-Kano line was being executed in six segments on stand-alone in order to effectively fund the project, and that the Federal Government was determined to partner the Lagos government to ensure increased operation of inland waterways in the state in order to check traffic gridlock.

“Essentially, this quality and type of transportation plays a huge role in reducing traffic. If you provide boat, people will keep their cars,” he stated.
