Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has said that his administration is on course to transform the education sector in the State by encouraging the younger generation to venture into position of leadership in the future.

He said this while hosting the sixteenth One-Day Governor of Lagos State, Olufemi Olaseinde Joshua and his cabinet at the Lagos House, Ikeja on Friday.
Joshua of Shasha Community Senior High School became the sixteenth One-Day Governor of Lagos after winning the 2016 Lagos Spelling Bee competition.

At the event, Ambode expressed his delight saying that the fact that the winners of the competition emerged from public schools in inner communities was a clear indication that public schools in the State are now becoming an exemplary citadel of learning.
The Governor also congratulated the State’s Ministry of Education and other stakeholders for sustaining the initiative, which started about 16 years ago, and called for the initiative to accommodate younger students.

The One-day Governor acknowledged the vision of the wife of former Lagos State Governor, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who was the pioneer of the Spelling Bee competition.

He praised the administration for providing students with free education and for transforming the state by providing infrastructural facilities and integrated lighting system.

Young Joshua urged the Lagos State Government to donate a school bus, a well-equipped E-library to his school, repair drainage systems as well as the roads leading to his school.
