Lagos State Public Works Corporation, LSPWC, an Agency of the Lagos State Government saddled with the responsibility of maintaining and rehabilitating roads in the State, has bagged the Africa’s best Agency in quality road maintenance and management award.
The Corporation received the award recently at an event organized by IBMN Integrated Services, an events planner and publisher of African quality achievements Journal which beams its searchlight on how individuals, corporate bodies and government institutions have imparted on human lives and their immediate environment through the discharge of their duties and responsibilities, held at the Lagos Sheraton Hotels & Towers, tagged “African Quality Achievement Award 2016”.
The representative of the Governor of Lagos State at the Award ceremony, the CEO, Lagos State Public Works Corporation, Engineer Ayotunde Sodeinde, expressed great delight at the gesture, saying the feat was achieved through Almighty God and the resilient spirit of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode whose dream is to see Lagos roads motorable all year round.
He further attributed the achievements to the value the State government places on human lives, saying road infrastructure remains one of the focal points of the Ambode administration and it hopes to achieve more before the expiration of its tenure.
Meanwhile, in a bid to ensure efficiency and service delivery, the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC), has organised One-Day training for its engineers on new Asphalt technology.
While declaring the training programme open at the Conference Hall of LSPWC in Ojodu-Berger recently, the Chief Executive Officer of LSPWC, Engineer Ayotunde Sodeinde, said the training, tagged: “Pavement Performance Evaluation – Optimum Process To Save And Reduce Cost, is important for its engineers and others as the Corporation is always evolving new ways and strategies of constructing and rehabilitating the State roads.
He said in the quest to effectively and efficiently discharge its responsibilities as well as ensure that the employees stay on top of their jobs, the corporation will continue to invest in the exploration of new frontiers of knowledge in form of adequate training programmes and research.
Engr. Sodeinde disclosed that he is sure that the training will further enhance the knowledge and capacity of the corporation engineers and its allied staff in the discharge of their duties.
