The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development will on Tuesday, 8th November 2016 unveil the State’s Youth Policy at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
The State Commissioner for the Ministry, Pharm. (Mrs.) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, who disclosed this today, said the development of the State’s Youth Policy is to provide positive, viable and sustainable direction towards promoting the growth and development of the youth population in the State.
She explained that the policy was designed to be an inclusive and participatory process recognising the importance of youth involvement and contribution to national development.
Akinbile-Yussuf stated that several engagements with stakeholders, including youth leaders, organisations and members of the fourth estate of the realm, were held in the course of gathering thoughts for the development process of the Policy.
“The process of developing a policy for the youths in the State commenced at the instance of the Ministry during its monthly management meeting when it became obvious that the National Youth Policy did not effectively address the challenges of Lagos Youths”, the Commissioner added.
