Why some parts of Lagos in blackout — Ikeja Electric


EKOCITY MAGAZINE —The Ikeja Electric Company has pinpoint the current power cut in some Lagos communities under its coverage to heavy rainfall which destroyed its equipment.

The Head of Corporate Communications of the company, Felix Ofulue, earlier this week, said the March 20 heavy rainfall affected its operations, leading to the power cut.

According Mr. Ofulue, the heavy rainfall affected Abule-Tailor 33kv line, Ipaja 11kv and Amikanle 11kv line which automatically affected Ikola, Amikanle, Command Road, Olodan, Ekoro Road, Abule-Tailor and environs from having electricity.

“Kindly bear with us as we will find lasting solutions to this.

“We highly regrets any inconveniences caused by this outage,” he said.

However, he said power supply will be restored as soon as possible as the company’s maintenance team were already effecting repairs.

Meanwhile, the management of the company had said that there would be a one-month power interruption in some areas within its network for routine maintenance work between March 3 and April 4.
