PIPELINE EXPLODES IN LAGOS

Many people are feared dead in a fire incident that engulfed Ijegun community in Lagos State’s Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development today (Thursday).

Our reporter found that some suspected bunkers were leaving the region after scooping fuel from a vandalized pipeline when one of their tankers collapsed and spilled fuel.

The spilled fuel was said to have caused the fire incident as citizens warded off their homes for safety.

The number of casualties and burnt assets could not be determined from the moment of this report because the flames prevented individuals from accessing the region.

An eyewitness, Babajide Lawal, said the residents were awakened by the noise of the explosion.

Lawal said, “At Ijegun Last Bus Stop, there is a fire incident, because the whole area was in flames, no one can move close the site. What awakened us was the sound of the explosion and we saw the fire burning everywhere when we went out to observe what happened.”
