Isolo LCDA Executive Chairman, Hon. Shamsudeen Abiodun Olaleye has flagged off a three-week intensive skill acquisition programme.
The flag-off ceremony held in the council hall on Thursday, July 4, 2019 attracted attendees mostly women and ladies from the seven political wards of the council area.
Hon Olaleye expressed his pleasure at the turnout of members in the skill acquisition program in his opening address and also thanked the programme organizer, Mrs. Ajetunmobi, for discovering Isolo LCDA as a worthy host.
The council boss said he wasted no time in approving the programme because it was in line with the vision of his administration.
According to him, such programme is key to eradicating poverty from the grassroots.
He said: “A programme of empowerment and poverty alleviation is very essential to us in Isolo because the only way to combat poverty is to empower citizens. There are no more white-colar jobs out there and the only way out is to build an enabling atmosphere to become self-reliant through skills and vocational training.
“You will receive training in your chosen vocation and thereafter train others and the circle continues. In no time, we will eradicate poverty by creating jobs for others.”
He beckoned on the trainees to use the training they got during the program to improve their lots. “We want individuals to make money without waiting for the fund of the government,” he added.
The Speed Up Lagos initiative’s organizer, Mrs. Ajetunmobi, praised Hon Olaleye and his management team for putting hands together with her organization to make the programme a reality.
She stated that the training cost next to nothing when compared with the short and long term benefits acruable to the trainees after the training.
The three-weeks training which started on Monday 1st of July 2019 will end on Friday 19th July 2019.
Courses on offer at the training programme include Home Essential Products, Fabric Designs, Make-Up & Glee, Catering Classical, Souvenirs Bags and Customizing & Printing of Gift Items.
