The national leader of the all progressive congress, Asiwaju bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed Supreme Court judgment that upheld the victory of isiaka adegboyega oyetola as osun Gov.
In his statement on his twitter handle, the former Lagos gov stated that the ruling further vindicated the judiciary.
. “The judgment has further vindicated the judiciary as unbiased, independent and impartial. In spite of the intimidation, unnecessary accusations and rumor-mongering, the apex court lived to its billing by dispensing justice without fear or favor.”
According to the statement, the former Lagos senator, the SC ruling was not based on hearsay but on merit and demerit. The statement further reads
“The court did not rule based on any hearsay but acted on the basis of the merits and demerits of the case before it. The Supreme Court and the judiciary therefore deserve our commendation for it has further strengthened the democratic process.”
Lastly, the ex-senator congratulated Gov. Oyetola, “I congratulate Governor Oyetola for his steadfastness and for remaining calm while the electoral case lasted. I commend the government and people of Osun in allowing the rule of law to run its entire course”.
He however, urged the party and the Gov. to be magnanimous in victory and extend a hand of fellowship to the PDP and unite the people of Osun state with.
‘’I urge them to continue to assist the security agencies in maintaining and sustaining the peace. Governor Oyetola should be magnanimous in victory, extend his hands of fellowship to the Peoples Democratic Party and continue to unite the people.”
Meanwhile, president Muhammad buhari, has also congratulated gov oyetola on his victory at the supreme court . in a statement on his personal twitter page,
“I most warmly congratulate Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State on the Supreme Court ruling which today affirmed his victory in the September 2018 State Governorship election.”
He further urged the gov and the party to be magnanimous in victory
“I commend the government and people of Osun for allowing the rule of law to run its entire course. I urge Governor Oyetola and the ruling All Progressives Congress party to be magnanimous in victory and to make concrete moves towards inclusive governance as may be necessary”.
In a related development, the defeated PDP candidate at the Osun 2018 gov polls, senator adeleke ademola has congratulated governor oyetola saying despite his misgivings about the ruling, he has accepted his fate.
