The Peoples Democratic Party State Chairman in Katsina State, Salisu Maijigiri, told the Presidential Election Tribunal on Tuesday that President Muhammadu Buhari was defeated in the state by his party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in the February 23 election.
Atiku and his party are challenging the victory of Buhari and the All Progressive Congress at the poll by their petition submitted before the five-man tribunal led by Justice Mohammed Garba.
On Day 4 of the presentation of their case on Tuesday, the petitioners called Maijigiri as their eighth witness, who said he served as the collation officer of the party in the state for the Katsina State presidential election.
Under cross-examination by the lawyers of the respondents, Maijigiri said that contrary to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the results collated in the state by his party showed that APC polled 872,000 votes , while 905,000 by PDP.
However, INEC’s result for the state showed that PDP polled 160,203 votes while the APC polled 1,505,633.
Contradicting INEC’s results, Maijigiri said,”We (PDP) won the election not APC.
“APC scored 872,000 and PDP scored, 905,000.
“These are our own results, we collated in our state not the ones from the server.”
