Community Accountability Forum (CAF) meeting championed by Agege Community Safety Initiative (ACSI), was held on Thursday, 11 July, 2019 at Shitta Street, Dopemu, Agege.
Mr. Demola Saheed, who represented the Executive Chairman of Agege LG Council; in his welcome address commended residents, stakeholders and security agencies for embracing the forum as an avenue to brainstorm and educate the public of modalities to tackle security challenges facing the community. The council boss further maintained that his Administration has created enabling environment for the people to strive, particularly, the youths in Agege community to engage themselves meaningfully to become better person’s to themselves and the society.
Representatives of non-governmental agencies also educated the public on prevention and proper actions required to forestall child abuse, domestic violence and rape.
In a question & answer session, members of the community, representatives of community youths and Agege Youth Council seek measures in place by government and security agencies to curb domestic violence including other social vices.
The Head of Education Department in Agege Local Government Council in explanation, emphasized on the need to embrace ongoing vocational studies in the council to acquire some skills that will benefit the person and the community, he outlined various skills acquisition programs available, which also include sports, music and etc for the youths. The HOD, therefore appointed Mrs Adeboye T. Ojuolape as an Ambassador for Vocational Studies in Ward B, Agege while Mr. Coach Gafar was appointed as the Ambassador for Sports in Ward B, Agege.
The representatives of the Nigeria Police Force were delighted to note that community members are ready to cooperate with security agencies in crime prevention. They educated the public on prevention of child abuse, domestic violence, rape and other crimes. While urging community members to ensure they report such cases whenever and wherever it occurs and no matter who is involved, promised to take proper actions as required by law.
The Leader of Agege Legislative Arm, who led his colleagues to the meeting thanked community leaders and the public for making themselves available to strategies with security agencies of how to prevent crime and criminality in Agege community. He assure the public that the legislative arm will do their best to support the community at all level.
The Baales in Council, while thanking members of Agege Community, security agencies and the organizers charge members of the community to always be proactive and be brave to report criminal case(s) no matter what, that the Baales in Council are always available to help reduce crime in Agege Community.
In a closing remarks, the Convener, Alh. Omodele Morufu responded to some questions and charged community members on sanitation of their residence and business areas to sustain good health condition.
It was announced by the Convener that the next CAF meeting shall be held in Ward C, Agege LG.

Head of Education Department in Agege Local Government Council, Officers of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corp (LSNC), Officers of the Voluntary Policing Sector (VPS), Mr. Moses Adepoju (Moderator), Executives of various CDAs in Agege and large crowd of Agege Community members.
