On Monday, the People’s Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, played three video clips at the Abuja Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to support some of the allegations raised in their petition challenging the result of the presidential election of February 23, 2019.
Through their lawyer, Chief Chris Uche (SAN), the petitioners played the video clips produced by their 40th petitioner witnesses, Segun Showunmi, who is Atiku’s media adviser and spokesperson.
The tribunal earlier dismissed the objection by the respondents’ lawyers to the admissibility and the playing of 48 Video Compact Discs.
Three of Monday’s video clips included an interview given by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Resident Electoral Commission, Mike Iginni, on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme when he said the election results would be transmitted to the INEC’s server.
Another video showed Army officials denying the claim of Buhari that his West African school certificate was with the army.
The third showed INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, meeting with members of Nigeria’s Computer Professionals Practitioners, expressing hope that electronic transmission will be implemented during the 2019 poll.
