Hon. Bamigboye celebrates 2019 Tree Planting Day in Mushin Local Government


Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, Executive Chairman Mushin Local Government, joined Lagos State to celebrate 2019 Tree Planting and sensitization campaign day.

He welcomed His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu and Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Environment ably represented by Mr. Dabiri in his welcome address to the event.

The event with the theme “Clean and Green is our perfect Dream” took place on Sunday 14 July 2019 at Obagun Street, off Fatai Atere Road, Mushin.

Hon. Bamigboye encouraged planting of trees in the community and discouraged cutting down of trees as well as dumping of refuse in the drainage.
Trees are beneficial to the existence of man, animals and the environment. He advised all residents to protect and nurture planted trees to maturity.

Mr. Dabiri delivered the speech of the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Environment. Reservation for greening is important while encouraging human activities such urbanization, industrialization, etc.

The Lagos State project would help build an environmental legacy to make tree planting and recreation, a vital component of our urban life.
He enjoined stakeholders to continue to support the government in areas of tree planting and recreation.

Hon. Bamigboye delivered Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu’s speech to the gathering. The strategic importance of 2019 plant a tree and sensitization campaign is reinforced in the THEME agenda which emphasized our commitment to ensure a cleaner, greener, healthier and saver environment. Also, the theme of the event expresses one of the key objectives of Lagos State agenda.

His Excellency encouraged planting of trees to provide aesthetics and beautiful environment in the society. When a tree is cut down, it should be replaced by planting 5 trees to avoid deforestation.

As we celebrate memorable events such as birthdays, child dedication, etc, let’s endeavor to plant a tree, nurture it and protect to maturity.
For a sustainable development of environmental greening, Lagos State would embark on one house, one tree campaign soon.
