The House of Representatives approved the application made by President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint 15 Special Advisers in accordance with the constitutional regulations.
The approval followed Thursday’s unanimous adoption at the plenary in Abuja of a motion by Rep. Garba Ado (APC-Kano).
The approval shall be in accordance with the amended provisions of Section 151(1) of the 1999 Constitution.
The provision says that the President has the authority to appoint any person to help him in carrying out his duties as a Special Adviser.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the President, in a message to the House on July 9, requested approval to appoint 15 Special Advisers.
The House declared that the Constitution empowers the National Assembly to prescribe the number of such advisers and their remuneration and allowances by law or resolution.
The House would transmit the approval to the Senate for concurrence.
