Christian Association Nigeria have supported the open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing it as “timely.”
The Christian body said Buhari should reduce the country’s insecurity.
CAN President Rev Supo Ayokunle urged Buhari to treat the letter “with all sense of accountability and responsibility” in response to questions during a news conference in Abuja on Thursday.
He said, “CAN is interested in the letter being treated with all sense of responsibility and accountability as a nation due to the problems raised in it. I believe the writer’s aim is to call the nation’s attention to things that can set the nation on fire.
“We believe that every Nigerian has the right to warn the leaders.”
Citing the security condition in Taraba State, he said his deputy, Rev Caleb Ahima, was unable to travel without military protection from his parish, stating that the state was under siege.
