CPS57 CHAIRMAN ‘AJIMOMUYA’ CHARGE LAGOS RESIDENTS TO BE PROACTIVE ON EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT


…As stakeholders call for involvement of members of the community on safety measures and strategies on emergency management

Chairman of Association of Chief Press Secretaries {CPS} for Executive Chairmen in the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State, CPS Owolabi Oseni Ajimomuya, has charged residents in Communities across the State to be proactive on safety and disaster management.

He made this call on Thursday, during the quarterly stakeholder’s meeting of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency {LASEMA}, held at the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry {LCCI} building, Ikeja Lagos State.

 

According to leader of grassroots media for Council Chairmen in Lagos State, CPS Ajimomuya, who represented Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government at the event, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu Dullar, said residents must be safety conscious at all times. He added: “While we strive to be security conscious in the times of emergency, we must ensure to be mindful of our neighbour’s safety too.”

The CPS for Somolu Local Government Boss also appealed to LASEMA to involve Council Chairmen as partners in order to guarantee safety of lives and properties in the case of emergencies and disaster management in the grassroots.

“LASEMA as an institution should work with Council Chairmen in the area of public safety and orientation on disaster management,” he said.

He added that residents in communal areas must be enlightened on the importance of safety and precaution during emergency situations.

 

The quarterly stakeholder meeting which was organized by LASEMA and with the theme: ‘Sustaining synergy amongst stakeholders in emergency/disaster management’ had discussants from various government agencies emphasized on the need for safety measures to be the focused in the grassroots.

Some of the participants at the event include Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by Dr. Abiola Mafe, a consultant, General Manager LASEMA, Dr. Femi-Oke Osanyintolu, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Rapid Response Squad {RRS}, in Lagos State, Mr. Tunji Disu, representative of LASTMA, Officer Adebola Kester, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, Lagos State Fire Service Spokesman, Amodu Shakiru, Dr. Yusuf, who is Permanent Secretary, Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Agencies in Lagos State among other discussants. The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Dada Sesan, represented the Executive Chairman while the Chief Press Secretaries to the Executive Chairmen of Yaba LCDA and Ajeromi-Ifelodun LG represented there bosses.
