The Women groups of Itire-Ikate LCDA held their monthly general meeting at the Council Secretariat, Airways Road,Ijeshatedo,Surulere, Lagos on Thursday, 1st August, 2019.
The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA ably represented by the Secretary to the Local Council, Hon Kehinde Baruwa at the event highlighted the importance of the meeting, stressing that the women folks are the most important sector of our society.
Hon Apatira advised all the various women groups to work harmoniously in order to ensure peaceful coexistence and viability in the Local Council Development Area.
“Your roles in any society should not be underestimated” Apatira said.
Thus, creating a sustainable platform for women to thrive is an antidote to systematically eradicate poverty and unhealthy environment from our communities.
Also, the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. (Mrs) Iyabo Yahaya stated that in line with the vision of Hon Apatira, Women should take this rare opportunity of having an enabling environment to succeed in their respective Endeavours with all sensibility.
Hon Yayaha informed the women present at the meeting to strengthen their ties for the purpose of making our LCDA an enviable one among her contemporaries in the State.
In her words, APC LGA Women Leader, Alhaja Titilayo Savage showered Encomiums on the Council Boss for his consistent support towards the women groups.
Alhaja Savage submitted that though there is no organization or society that is not faced with challenges, but it is worthy of mention that the administration of Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira has over the time stood solidly to tackle these challenges.
She enjoined the women folks to embrace the programmes lined up by the Department of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation(WAPA) of Itire-Ikate LCDA to ameliorate some of their Challenges.
HOD WAPA, Mrs Oluwatoyin Somoye applauded the Council Chairman for bringing together virtually all the Women groups of Itire-Ikate LCDA under one umbrella.
In her words, This is a giant push for the women to be granted equal and wider voice within the society. It is sincerely noted that when a woman’s voice is heard, then our Society is guaranteed development, peace, security, opportunities, promotion and protection of human rights.
Finally, She implored the Women to take up loans available at WAPA department to boost their businesses.
Participants and Instructors from the Summer Holiday Vocational Training Institute were present at the meeting to display some of the Skills they have acquired from the institute.
The Meeting was well attended by Women of Itire-Ikate LCDA which comprises of APC Ward Women Leaders, APC LGA Women Officers, Arewa Women Group, Igbo Women Group, and Market Women amongst others.
