Two officials of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS at the Ikoyi branch have been confirmed to be infected with coronavirus.
However, despite the officials’ awareness of their status, they are yet to isolate themselves and still mingle with other staff and the community.
Also, another staff of the FIRS, whose husband has contacted COVID-19, is yet to isolate herself, as well.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC states that any COVID-patient, or anyone who has come in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus, must self-isolate.
“Self-isolation means strictly staying at home or in an identified accommodation, away from situations where you mix with family members or the general public, for a defined period usually up to 14 days. This also means avoiding any situation where you may come into close contact (less than 2 meters i.e. 6 feet) with others.”
Currently, none of the FIRS officials are observing the precaution to ensure the society is safe.
