Lagos allocates N13bn to boost sports

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Sports, Mr. Ayodeji Tinubu, said the sum of N13billion has been budgeted for sports development in Lagos State for the year 2017.

He explained that out of this sum, N9.6 billion was earmarked for the renovation of sporting facilities, while N3 billion was allocated for the development of sports in the State.

Tinubu said the State government is keen on renovating the National Stadium, Surulere, as part of efforts to attract sporting activities as well as bring the Super Eagles back to their familiar territory.

According to Tinubu, Lagos is also prepared to construct sport facilities in Epe, Ajegunle and Ikorodu, while the existing ones in Rowe Park, Ijede, Amutan and Onikan stadium will be renovated.
