The Lagos State Government has promised to deliver the New Market, Camp Davies, Ishefun and Aiyetoro roads all in Alimosho area of the state in 12 months.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Ganiyu Johnson, who made the promise at a stakeholders’ meeting, urged the residents to cooperate with the contractor in the course of executing the project.
According to him, contracts have been awarded for the rehabilitation/upgrading of the New Market/Camp Davies/Ishefun roads (section 1) with a duration of 12 months, and the rehabilitation/upgrading of Aiyetoro road (section 1) for eight months.
According to a report by Vanguard, the contracts were awarded to Messrs CGC Nigeria Limited in December 2015, while work started on the roads on March 25, 2016.
Johnson said, “The New Market/Camp Davies/Ishefun section, which is 5.9 kilometres in length, will connect with the newly completed Ipaja Ayobo Road to Ishefun town and Camp Davies Village.
“In order to ensure free flow of traffic, the project was designed to upgrade the New Market/Ishefun road into a dual carriageway for the section 1, while the Camp Davies road will be a two-lane single carriageway of 460 metres.
The one kilometre Aiyetoro earth road links Lagos and Ogun states and has for many years been riddled with potholes and craters, thereby impeding vehicular movement.
“The road is being upgraded to a dual carriageway to be implemented in sections,” he said.
Section 1 entails the complete asphalting of one side of the carriageway, while the other carriageway will be completed to sub base level,” the commissioner said.
He added that the section II will involve the completion of the asphaltic work on the outstanding carriageway and the construction of a new bridge.
