A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, simply identified as Bajomo, has been liberated from his abductors.
Mr. Bajomo was rescued by troops attached to Operation AWATSE, which is carrying out anti-pipeline vandalism/crude oil activities.
Sources said Bajomo and some other kidnap victims were rescued inside the Maware Creeks in Ishawo mangrove, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
They were said to have been rescued following the bombardment of the general areas by the Nigerian military, which led to most of the militants, who had earlier camped in the creeks, fleeing.
In the course of fleeing, the militants, it was learnt, abandoned their victims. The ground troop, which was combing the area after the militants were smoked out, was said to have found the kidnap victims, including the pastor.
The Commander of Operation AWATSE, Colonel Julius Ogbobe, confirmed the development. Ogbobe said Bajomo was found at about 8am on Sunday alongside others. He said he has since been reunited with his family.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmos, also confirmed the development.
