The Police Operatives attached to the newly re-structured Anti Kidnapping Unit of the Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, have arrested two(2) members of a 7 man gang who specialized in breaking of shops at Idumota/Balogun and some other markets in Lagos State, on 25th August at about 0345hrs immediately after their operations at Idumota/Balogun markets.
Ekocity Magazine gathered that the arrest of two members of the gang was as a result of the swift response of the police operatives to a tip-off on the regular criminal acts (shop breaking) of the syndicate that have caused untold hardship and worries to the owners of some affected shops in the markets.
The suspects, Yakubu Adamu, male, 21, a Niger Republic national, and Issa Musa, male, 48, father of 5, who hails from Borno State, Nigeria, have no fixed address and have been in this dirty “Business” for years before their arrest at Obalende, Lagos State, while waiting for the arrival of the receivers of their stolen wears including undies.
More than 10(ten) bags of undies and wears worth millions of naira and one unregistered Toyota Corrola which is their operational vehicle were recovered from them. Also, due to thorough search conducted on their operational car, 2(two) cutlasses, 2 chisels and one heavy cutter were recovered at the bonnet of the car where they were concealed after their operation.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Abdulmajid Ali, has directed the Officer-In-Charge of Anti Kidnapping Unit of the Zone to affect the arrest of other fleeing members of the gang and their receivers so that police can have proper investigation and prosecution of the case.
He has also vowed to cripple the activities of criminals, hoodlums, cultists and land grabbers who make people’s lives precarious to them in his zonal command. AIG Abdulmajid Ali then assured the good people of Lagos and Ogun states of adequate security and unalloyed maintenance of law and order.
