The Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira in collaboration with Iyaniwura Children Care Foundation ‘ICCF’ Held Child Abuse Awareness Walk and Parents/Stakeholders Interactive Forum to discuss Sexual Abuse, Physical Abuse, Emotional Abuse and Child Neglect on Wednesday, 27th November, 2019.
The 5th edition of The ICCF Programme, themed: “Do All Things in The Best Interest of The Child” was to commemorate 2019 edition of the annual International Children’s Day Celebration held every 20th November.
The Awareness Walk to sensitize parents and the people in Ikate, Itire and Ijesha communities on the need to stop Sexual Abuse and all forms of Child Abuses took-off from The Palace of Oba Lateef Adams, The Onikate of Ikate Land and concluded at The Council Secretariat with The Child Abuse Awareness and Parents/Stakeholders Interactive Forum which was powered by Child Protection Network CPN, Ikeja.
The Chairman enjoined parents to wake-up to their responsibility of protecting their wards against Sexual, Physical and Emotional Abuse either from their Pairs or Neighbors.
Pupils from Nine schools within Itire-Ikate LCDA featured in the programme, amongst which are: Animasaun Nursery and Primary School, Ijesha Nursery and Primary School, Akanji Nursery and Primary School and so on.
The Oba stated in an interview conducted by the TVC, that Lagos State Education is free, So, parents should stop making their children hawk during school hours and endeavour to send them to school.
The ICCF Project Coordinator, Matilda Otitoloju during the roadwalk inkling that Lagos State should in the near future administer a form of punishment to parent or guidance of children found on the street hawking during school hours.
