Have No Enemies To Fight, Jonathan Says As He Accepts Shagari’s Son’s Apology

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday says he has accepted theapology of Aminu, the son of former President Shehu Shagari, who worked against him during the 2015 election.

Jonathan said he never took offence and was never the type to holdgrudges.
The former President said this while acknowledging Aminu’s apology in aFacebook post.

He wrote, “Dear Honourable Aminu Shagari, Thank you for your apology.However, I never took offense. My firm belief is that I am a pencil inthe Hand of God.

“Therefore, I have no enemies to fight, because of my confidence thatpeople can only do to me what God permits. I urge you to continue toemulate the humility of your father, the late President Shehu Shagari, amost detribalized Nigerian. May God bless you. GEJ.”

The three-term House of Representatives member and lawyer, son of thelate President Shehu Shagari, had wrote to the former president forforgiveness.

Aminu said he helped to bring down Jonathan’s government to ensureMuhammadu Buhari emerged despite that as a military officer he led acoup that dethroned his father in 1983.
