#EndSARS Hashtag Gains Global Momentum As It Trends Number One Worldwide

Protests and campaigns calling for banning of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police Force over alleged harassment and extrajudicial killing on Friday entered its third day in various cities across the country.
The #EndSARS hashtag also gained global momentum on social media platforms, especially Twitter, as it rose to the number one hashtag worldwide with over 10 million tweets.
Several celebrities have joined protesters shouting for the proscription of SARS, citing the ceaseless nightmares the police unit has caused Nigerians.
The hashtag, which is currently number one in many major World cities including the US, the UK, UAE, Ghana, South Africa, is also trending alongside other hashtags; “#EndSarsNow #EndSarsProtests #EndSARSProtest #EndSARSImmediately after gaining the attention of the international community.
Nigerians in Diaspora, especially those in the US, United Kingdom, Canada, UAE, have also joined the campaign by protesting at various embassies, while others have planned solidarity protests for the weekend.
