Six persons have been reportedly killed in a rare attack by gunmen on a village in Osun state, forcing many residents into a panic mode as insecurity spreads across the country.
According to an online media house, Yemisi Opalola, the state police command spokesmen, also confirmed the incident in a phone call.
According to her, the gunmen had earlier attacked a village near Wasinmi, a community along Ife/Ibadan way, before daybreak on Sunday.
She added that Wale Olokode, the state commissioner of police, has visited the scene of the incident.
Police officers, men of Oodua Peoples Congress and Hunters Group of Nigeria are said to have been deployed in the bush in the area.
With the latest attack, the country is witnessing a rise in the spate of attacks by gunmen.
