After 13 days in captivity, the 75 abducted students of Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, in Maradun LGA of Zamfara state have regained their freedom.
It would be recalled that on September 1, 73 students were abducted from the school following an attack by bandits.
However, on Monday through its Facebook page, the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) said the 75 students have been freed.
“The seventy-five students of Government Day Secondary School Kaya in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State abducted about two weeks ago regained freedom,” NTA’s Facebook post reads.
No detail was given as to how the students regained their freedom.
Recently, a number of measures have been taken by the authorities to ensure the north-west is safe.
While the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) ordered telecommunications providers to suspend services in Zamfara, some governors ordered the closure of markets from where bandits could get food supplies.
