Immune system is the body’s natural defense against bacteria and viruses. The immune system keeps you healthy, it also helps the body to heal faster. Lifestyle and diet are major factors to having a heathy immune system. There are natural ways to boost the immune system, they are but not limited to the following:

DRINK MORE WATER: Water is a natural immune booster. Proper hydration helps the body to function at its best, drinking enough water all through the day keeps the body hydrated, flushes toxins from the organs of the body and promotes a healthy, strong immune system.

QUALITY SLEEP: When the body lacks proper sleep and rest, it produces more stress hormones which prevents the immune system from functioning at full capacity. Sleep is essential for overall health of the body and brain, not getting enough sleep can increase inflammation and your risk of getting sick. For a strong immune system, you should get at least 6 to 8 hours sleep daily.

MANAGE STRESS: Stress can overwork your immune system and your ability to stay healthy. When you are under chronic stress, the body produces stress hormone ‘cortisol’ in high amounts, this stops the immune system from functioning hence your body’s defense against bacteria and viruses is weakened. Stress also leads to unhealthy eating habits, not getting sleep and you are more likely to break down under chronic stress.

EAT HEALTHY: A healthy diet promotes a healthy immune system. Eating whole balanced meals of fruits, vegetables, protein and healthy fats is essential to the body. Fruits are rich in nutrients like antioxidants that help decrease inflammation, reduce the effects of oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Fruits also promotes healthy gut bacteria for a strong immune system.

EXERCISE: Exercise also contributes to a healthy immune system. It promotes blood circulation, helps prevent chronic heart diseases as well as high blood pressure and keeps your weight in check. Regular work out helps white blood cells and antibodies to circulate faster helping your body to fight bacteria and virus faster.
