Tinubu dismisses any political undertone on his visit to Buhari.


Following his weekend visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Former governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that the reasons for his visit has no political undertone.

The former Lagos governor was hosted by the president the presidential villa on Sunday.

The duo met at the president’s official residence before proceeding to a closed door meeting. 

According to Tinubu, the purpose of his visit was to welcome the president back from his trip to Saudi Arabia where he went for lesser hajj and also to thank Buhari for visiting him in London after his medical procedure.

“Only to thank the president, first of all, for his visit to my residence in London after the surgery and wishing me well, lifting my spirit and indeed what an exceptional leader will do to collaborate. So that’s what I came for and to welcome him back from the trip from Saudi,” Tinubu said after the meeting.

“No politics, just a courtesy call to thank him in a big way, that’s all.”Advertisement

The APC chieftain returned to Nigeria on October 9 — three weeks ago after undergoing knee surgery in London, United Kingdom.

Although Tinubu is yet to officially declare his ambition for the 2023 presidential election, several campaign initiatives have been launched in his name.
