APATIRA AT CAPACITY BUILDING AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME FOR ITIRE-IKATE LNSC


… Police Van Presented To Ijeshatedo Police Station

A two day capacity building and empowerment programme for Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, Itire-Ikate Division was held at the Council Secretariat, Airways, Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos on Monday, 26th August, 2019.

The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira was designated as the Special Guest for the Guard of Honour.

Dr. Apatira who was unavoidably absent on Day one of the programme was ably represented by the Local Government Secretary, Hon Kehinde Baruwa.

In his keynote address, Dr. Apatira said security is life, Everyone has a collective responsibility towards ensuring a safe and harmonious community where peace, security of life and property prevails.

Recent events in the country have shown that we all need to be alert to the security challenges around us, We need to protect our domain from the prevalent forces; gangsterism and all other vices should be averted with our collective efforts, Apatira enthused.

The council helmsman posited that the LNSC will be given the necessary support by way of training them, and also provide security gadgets needed for their optimal performance and which will drive home the vision of Itire-Ikate LCDA to achieve a safe environment.

In the words of Lagos Divisional Representative, Mr Ishola Laguda, the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria stated the primary aim of government is protecting lives and properties, and it is safe to say that the administration of Dr. Apatira strives to meet up with that responsibility and deserves commendation for taking security issues as a priority.

Laguda charged the Neighborhood corps to double their efforts and discharge their duties judiciously.

In his speech, Leader of the Council, Hon. Akorede Adams Subair advised the Corps to stop the exercise of traffic management, but rather concentrate their energies and strategies into areas that are more critical and of benefits to the community.

Itire-Ikate Community Development Committee Chairman, Otunba Dupe Adekoya commended the council chairman for working assiduously in ensuring a peaceful community.

However, he appealed to the Neighborhood Corps to act immediately if they are suspicious of any wrongdoing by any individual within the community before their acts snowball into an imminent danger.

H O D Agric and Youths, Mrs Attah opined that much is expected from the Neighborhood Outfit as they are the bedrock of intelligence gathering within the communities.

“Words alone cannot express my appreciations to Hon Apatira for organizing a training programme for our Security personnel, i implore you all to reciprocate this gesture by performing brilliantly in the discharge of your duties.”

 

Dr. Apatira appeared at the training programme on Day two to witness the guard of honour and other skills displayed by the LNSC operatives to the admiration of other government functionaries.

“Security is a serious business ,let me unequivocally state that your sincere and utmost cooperation is mostly sought for to achieve the LCDA of our dream,” said Apatira.

Divisional Police Officer of Ijesha Police Post, CSP Adolf Ugwu in his speech submitted that Views and opinions of our people are essential for the growth of robust policing of our community.

Meanwhile, A police Van was presented to Ijeshatedo Police Station to aid their operational duties and help in the fight against the nefarious activities of some unscrupulous residents of Itire-Ikate LCDA.

The brief handing-over ceremony was conducted by the Secretary of Cole/Jubril Martins CDA, Mr Stanford Abisola Adams, while the vehicle was received on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force by the DPO Ijeshatedo Police Station.

Other Dignitaries present at the programme includes Honourable Councillors Supervisory Councillors, Management Staff, SAs , SSAs,Artisans, Security personnel, Market Men and Women amongst others.
