Football

Football is a team sport played primarily with a spherical ball between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. The sport is characterized by players using their feet to kick the ball, although they can also use any part of their body except their arms and hands (goalkeepers are exceptions).

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The game is widely played worldwide, often referred to as “soccer” in countries like the United States and Canada to distinguish it from other forms of football, such as American football or rugby football.

The sport is known for its cultural significance, global popularity, and prestigious competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, which is held every four years and involves national teams from around the world. Football encourages teamwork, physical fitness, and skill development and is played recreationally and professionally at various levels.
