Dowen College: Police arrests 3 students over Oromoni’s death.

  • Following the death of Sylvester Oromoni a student of Dowen College Lekki Lagos, the Lagos state Police Command says it has arrested three students of the school linked to the case.

According to a report monitored on TheCable, it said sources close to the family confirmed the development to on Tuesday morning.

Confirming the story, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, the state commissioner of police, also said that three out of the five students mentioned by the deceased are already in custody.

It would be recalled that before his death, Oromoni mentioned five students who he claimed had attacked him in his dormitory room, inflicting on him multiple internal injuries.

The commissioner also added that the suspects are assisting the police in their investigation.

Dowen College, situated in Lekki, Lagos, has been in the eye of the storm since the demise of the 12-year-old boy.

In a video that has gone viral, the student’s father said his child was beaten and fed a liquid chemical.

But the school dismissed the claim, alleging that he sustained injuries while playing football with his colleagues.

Odumosu had earlier ordered an investigation into Oromoni’s death while Dowen College was also shut last Sunday.

On Monday, Femi Falana, human rights lawyer, called for a coroner’s inquest into the circumstances surrounding Oromoni’s demise.

Nigerians have also continued to demand justice for the deceased on social media platforms.
