During the week, Ekocity Magazine visited the Yemisi Shyllon Museum at Pan Atlantic University, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos Nigeria. The world-class museum and one of the best in Africa was founded by the renowned art collector Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon, a Yoruba Prince from Egbaland, Abeokuta in Ogun State, Nigeria.
Prince Shyllon is one of Nigerian’s biggest art collectors with over 1,000 of his collections donated to the museum.
The Museum is headed by the Spanish architect, Jesse Castellote.
In exhibition were the works of renowned Nigerian contemporary artists like Aina Onabolu(The father of Nigerian contemporary arts), Bruce Onabrakpevya, Yusuf Grillo, Ben Enwonwu, Nike Davies Okundaye, including Susan Wenger.
Modern contemporary artists were not left out as the works Victor Ehikamenor, Nnenna Okore, Ngozi Onyeje, Anthonia Nneji and so many other versatile artists.
The works of vibrant and upcoming artists like Feri Abubakar, Peju Alatise, Vanierie Uche, etc also decorated the halls of the museum.
Truly art changes the narratives.
We recommend Yemisi Shyllon Museum at Pan Atlantic University for individuals, families, groups, and tourists.
It is a place you should go check out and you’ll be grateful you did.
