The Catholic archbishop of Abuja, Ignatius Kaigama has dismissed the insinuation that the insecurity in the country affects only Christians saying it does not affect just one religion.
According to the cleric , Nigerians of all tribes and religions are being killed while he called on the citizens to promote peaceful coexistence.
Archbishop Ignatius made this clarification on Friday in Abuja after a special mass celebration at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral.
The archbishop said peace and security are crucial to ensuring that the country remains united.
He further appealed to Nigerians not to promote crises through religion.
“Nigerians are being killed not Christians; it is not about a particular religion,” he said.
During his sermon, the archbishop said the church is the light for the society to look up to.
“The church has the responsibilities to teach the society to move from conflict to communion,” he said.
“I urged Nigerians to always give thanks to God, who has continued to preserve the nation.”
The archbishop urged Nigerians not to relent in praying for unity in the country.
