Following the success of the Mother Infant and Child Development MICHD program launched by the Babajide Olusola Sanwolu Administration, the Lagos state government has launch the phase III which is aimed towards achieving the Lagos State T.H.E.M.E.S agenda led by the Mr Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Administration.
According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, who noted that the 3rd phase which started on the 6th of April 2022 with the engagement and sensitization of the Mother Infant and Child Development MICHD program phase III in the 20 LG and 37 LCDAs across Lagos state, was accompanied by the outstanding Directors across different departments from Office of Civic Engagement as well support staff who have highly diligent.

Stating further, the Special Adviser on Civic Engagement said the sensitization exercise is designed to facilitate awareness among the beneficiaries that will be partaking from this laudable project.
She also sensitized (the pregnant women) on the importance of good nutrition and how it helps in brain development of the baby from the womb. She added that The expectation from beneficiaries of the program during her speech clearly state that Mr. Governor is looking forward to seeing you giving birth to civilly responsible citizens.

On her part, the Director Legislative Of Civic Engagement Mrs Ayodele enlightened the beneficiaries on the opportunities for both pregnant women and their husbands in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Wealth Creation, Min of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation respectively.
The MICHD consultant, Dr Erinosho, welcoming the pregnant women to the special occasions, explained in-depth interest on the impact of this program to the beneficiaries and the society at large. He also explained the importance and breakdown of each nutrients compiled in the MICHD food packs and supplements for them and their unborn babies respectively.
In his view, the MICHD program had cut across about 4 SDG goals and Office of Investment and Sustainable Development Goals has also partnered with Office of Civic Engagement on this Journey.

However, during this sensitization exercise, there were enrollment of beneficiaries into Lagos state health insurance scheme (Ilera Eko) which is for them to have access to free medical treatment after onboarding each mother on MICHD application software accompanied with LASSRA official to ensure all the mothers are registered under Lagos State Residential registration
On a final note, the Special Adviser stated that the main expectation is to see our mothers eat a well balanced diet during their pregnancy, which is the reason why the MICHD PACK is given on a weekly basis to our indigent pregnant mothers for proper brain development of the fetus and well being of both mother and child and also to give birth and raise a civilly responsible child that will grow up to contribute positively to our society and not one that will exert pressure on it.
