Following the launch of the Phase III of the Mother Infant and Child (MICHD) programme, the Lagos state government has flagged off the distribution of food packs to indigent pregnant women from five local governments.
The distribution with took place at Epe, witnessed the beneficiaries from the following local governments and LCDAs ; Epe LG ,Ibeju Lekki LG, Eredo LCDA , Lekki LCDA and Ikosi Ejinrin LCDA
Speaking at the engagement drive, the SA to the governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale who was represented by the Director Adminand Human Resources,Mrs Olaide Ibrahim, commended Mr Governor Babajide Sanwolu on the support given to the program and the attention to unborn babies in the state which is aimed at achieving the THEMES agenda
On hand to breakdown the components and ingredients of what is been given to the pregnant women is the Director of Medical services and disease control in Lagos state Dr Eniola Erinosho who analyzed the different classes of food and their functions.
On the other hand the Lagos state government encouraged the pregnant women to embrace hard work and not remain idle even during pregnancy as it will aid their delivery and keep them engaged after delivery.
On behalf of the local five government chairmen, the Epe local government chairman, Princess Surat Animashaun thanked the Lagos state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwolu for embracing this lofty idea while promising continuous support to all the programme of the state.
On skill acquisition, Princess Animashaun encouraged the pregnant women and their spouses to embrace and tap into the different programmes that is available at the various local governments.
Speaking on behalf of one of the partners of the Program, Alaro city a real estate company Mrs Funke Beke lauded the efforts of the Lagos state government, while promising that the company’s support to the state.
Lastly, some of the recipients of the packs thanked the state government for this life changing program while promising to adhere to the advises of the experts in order to give birth to a civicly responsible children.
