Popular Nollywood actress, Ada Ameh known for her role in The Johnsons, the family sitcom, has died.
Mrs Ameh’s death was confirmed by Emeka Rollas, president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria AGN), on Monday morning.
According to sources, the actress died on Sunday night at a hospital in Warri, Delta state.
The source further revealed that the actress was said to have suddenly collapsed at an event and was thereafter rushed to the Nigerian National Petroleum Hospital. She, however, died before they arrived at the medical facility.
Abubakar Yakubu, national secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), also told TheCable Lifestyle that “we’re trying to confirm the circumstances surrounding her death.”
The actress’ demise comes a few weeks after she announced that she was battling mental health issues.
“I have an issue right now and it’s taking my life, but I won’t die. We would get over it. I was given a job, but I didn’t do it because I have mental health issues,” she had said.
“Would people understand when say you have mental issues? No, they wouldn’t. They are slamming me with a bill, suing me but it’s okay.”
Ameh, who was well known for her role as ‘Emu’ in the Nigerian TV series, lost her only daughter.
Aladi Godgift, according to the film star, died in October 2020 after an unsuccessful surgery in Abuja.
Ada had earlier recounted how she was influenced by peers, introduced to early sex, and got pregnant at 13.
“It wasn’t my parents. My peers influenced me. They introduced me to early sex. One thing led to another, and I got pregnant,” she had said.
“I got pregnant in March, and I had my baby in December the same year. That means I got pregnant when I was 13+.”
