Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. It commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad. During Ramadan, adult Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, refraining from eating, drinking, smoking, and sinful behavior. The fast is broken daily with a meal called iftar, traditionally starting with dates and water, and is often followed by communal prayers. Ramadan is also a time for increased prayer, reading of the Quran, and engaging in charitable acts, aiming for spiritual growth and self-discipline. The month concludes with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a festival marking the end of fasting.
