  1. Elegushi Royal Beach

This is the most popular of all private beaches located at Oriwu Street along Lekki-Epe Expressway. It is a great spot to get wonderfully prepared African and Inter Continental dishes designed to whet the appetite, party all night at clubs and engage in all manner of games. As the name implies, it is owned by the Elegushi Royal Family so when going there, just know you are stepping on royal grounds. Might make you feel a bit royal.

Elegushi can get a bit crowded especially on weekends so if you need some alone time, you can go during the weekdays when it will be less populated, or if you want to make lots of friends and talk till your mouth drops, like the Sanguine types, go during the weekends. Please note that gate fee is #1000 naira and parking fees is from #200. Visit Elegushi today!

  1. Oniru Beach

This enthralling combination of land, water and lush palm trees promises to give you a fun filled and forgettable experience, you know those ones you keep talking about till your friends grow tired of you. Oniru Beach, just like Elegushi is named after its owners, the Oniru Royal family. Step into this private wonderland today, the right place for parties, events, relaxations, fun outing and so on.

What’s more, you can ride the Ferris wheel! Scream your lungs out in excitement and adrenaline as you ride into the skies. This beach is quite easy to access and is located at the end of Ligali Ayorinde Street, Victoria Island.

The beach observes a strict 12pm curfew but once you’ve gotten in, you can stay till whenever you desire. It’s all about the privacy, people. Gate fee’s #1000 and when there’s a special event going on, it can get higher than that. Sunday evenings at Oniru is the best time to partayy….

  1. Atican Beach Resort

We can’t talk about the top five beaches without mentioning this beach. It’s a beach and a resort! A serene and pristine ocean side private beach resort located in Lekki-Ajah, it’s an ideal destination for family trips and romantic getaways because there are Caribbean styled beach huts that are distributed along the coastal lines which offer rest and relaxation. They can be rented for #10000. As it is a resort, they have various other facilities like suites for lodging, a dance area to showcase your skills, a playground for kids and many more!

One thing to note is that there are no food vendors on the beach itself so you might have to bring your own food. There is a restaurant at the beach resort, though. You can then wash the food down with the best drinks and suya at the Beach Bar & Barbeque Spot.

The entrance fee is #1000 on weekends and public holidays and on weekdays, it boasts a competitive advantage over other beaches with a small fee of #500. Now you have no excuse for not going.

  1. Eleko Beach

Not so popular because it is located far away from the hustle and bustle of Lagos but definitely worth the trip, Eleko beach is a symbol of peace and tranquility. It opened in 1989 as a private beach located in Lekki. It is near the La Campagne Tropicana and perfect for a summer getaway. It is not exactly an easy beach to access so if you don’t like driving, you can get someone to drive you and leave early. The gate fee is #500.

Eleko beach is considerably cleaner than some of the other beaches in Lagos and like other beaches, there are relaxation spots and food centres. Many vendors selling all manner of souvenirs, beach wears, trinkets and jewelry are seen everywhere so if you see something you like, don’t be shy to call out for their attention.

  1. La Campagne Tropicana

Frankly speaking, this is one of the best beaches in Lagos frequented by dignitaries, ex president, celebrities and the elite who come during the summer holidays and vacations. It is located at Ikegun, Ibeju Lekki Local government area, off Lekki Epe expressway. Fun fact: it also lies on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean with Ikegun as its border.

La Campagne Tropicana boasts of a health and fitness centre where guests can engage in various exercises with state of the art machines and equipments. After this, guests can head over to the beauty and wellness spa where they can relax and get massages. They offer a full range of wellness services like full body massages, facials, manicure and pedicures. You want to engage in sporting activities such as volleyball, tennis, surfing, and boat riding, go right ahead. It’s all there. They also have rooms in case you want to stay overnight plus an online business centre to sort your business issues.

They also have food and drinks available at their various restaurants. All in all, you are left with a sense of satisfaction after enjoying all these services.

Now that you know about these beaches, there is one more thing to be said. This is Lagos! To avoid stares from people, please do not walk around on these beaches in a bikini or really skimpy clothing. People will start wagging their tongues so ensure you are dressed in light apparel and makeup. Shorts and tank tops are a great combination to go out in. Have fun!

Which of these beaches would you like to go to, and why?
