Okagbare disqualified over false start
It was a sad day for the country’s athletes as her medal hopeful in that 100m blessing okagbare was disqualified for false starts. The Olympic medalist hope of winning her first all African games gold medal went up in flames as she was disqualified for 100m false start

However some good news came the way of Nigeria at the Day ten at the ongoing 12th All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco as team Nigeria claim its second gold medal.

Adenike Olarinoye In the women’s 55kg weightlifting’ outlifted fellow compatriot, Chika Amalaha, to win the gold with a lift of 209kg.

Amalaha won the silver with a lift of 208kg.

Also at the First day in the Track and Field event, Grace Anigbata clinched the gold medal in the triple jump with a mark of 13.75m.

While Dotun Ogundeji won silver medal in discus.

However Nigeria’s hope of winnng gold in the 100m event is there as Joy Udo-Gabriel clocked 11.47 seconds to win the heat 3 of the women’s 100m semi-final race ahead of South Africa’s Mamathu Tebogo (11.63s).

Meanwhile, Itsekiri Usheoritse Ese and Ekevwo Raymond qualified to be in the final of the men’s 100 meters.

Similarly, Abejoye Oyeniyi will be competing in the men’s 110m Hurdles after finishing 3rd clocking a time of 13.93 seconds in heat 1 of the semi-final.

In the medal table, Team Nigeria are in sixth position with five gold five silver and eight bronze medals.
