HONOURABLE LAYODE HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS’ TOWN-HALL MEETING, GIVES ACCOUNT OF STEWARDSHIP

As Governor talks tough on unprofessional conducts of men of the Nigerian Police Force on Badagry Expressway

It was a massive and result-oriented event when stakeholders from all walks of life demonstrated interest in governance by attending the Badagry Constituency 1 2019 edition of the annual Stakeholders’ Meeting organised by the Lagos State House of Assembly held in Badagry Townhall , Badagry, Lagos.It is a meeting that usually presents the opportunity for the people to register their expectations as well as feedbacks from their representatives.

Held on Wednesday 11th of September, 2019, itwas a well-attended meeting. Religious bodies, traditional rulers, market men and women, artisans, students, CDAs, CDCs, Council chairmen, Council supervisors, Council legislators, etc all graced the ocassion.

Shortly before the commencement of the Meeting, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, was engaged by the reporters assigned to the venue of the meeting where he gave an insight to the relevance of the Meeting as an interface between the people and their representatives. ” The importance of the Meeting cannot be overemphasized. It is a platform where constituents register their opinions especially in those areas where they believe we need to improve on. We collate those reports and submit to the Governor for implementations.”, the legislator said in parts.

At about 1 p.m. Nigerian time, the Meeting commenced properly. OIL 88, as Hon. Layode is fondly called by his admirers, in his Keynote address, gave an insight into his stewardship. He also assured the continuity of his quality representation in the 9th Assembly.

Corroborating the position of the experienced legislator, the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde, showered accolades on the legislator. The reason Hon. Layode was returned to the 9th Assembly was as a result of his quality representation. He has distinguished himself as an exemplary and experienced legislator and I don’t think there is need for us to change the winning team., Hon. Samola said.

Also, Hon Onilude Segun, the Executive Chairman of Badagry Central appreciated everyone for making it to the Meeting and assured the people that the ‘Next Level’ agenda of the APC would be delivered. On the same vein, Hon. Joseph Henugbe, the Executive Chairman of Badagry West, also implored everyone to be patient as governance has processes to follow.

In his address, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, speaking through his representative at the occasion, Hon. Bonu Solomon Saanu, S.A to the Governor on Art and Culture, appreciated the legislator for his efforts in bringing development to his Constituency. Speaking further,the Governor expressed his displeasure against the unprofessional conducts of uniform men within the Badagry corridor, making reference to the shooting of some individuals that took place in Badagry where some individuals were injured. “If I had been gunned down, would I have had the opportunity to be where I am today? This has to stop. Extortion of our people on the Badagry road has to stop as well. This is an insult to us as a people.”, said Mr Bonu.

All stakeholders registered their feelings and Hon. Layode responded appropriately.
