Oshodi-Isolo local government community today witness another epoch of an unprecedented legislative dexterity in strengthening of participatory democracy with the public hearing on Five proposed bills towards making Oshodi better through the instrument of lawmaking.
The leader of the legislative council, Hon. Rasheed Obasa in his opening address asserted that the lawmakers at the grassroots since the inception of this administration has been working assiduously towards ensuring the local government remains a secured and a better environment that is habitat for all through qualitative representation in meeting the yearning and aspirations of the people at the grassroots.
According to him, ” We gather here to get the input of the people on five (5) different bills that were painstakingly put together with the interest of the people at heart.
“It is our considered opinion that the local government would be a better place if you play your part of the social contract called Government and we play ours too through the making of friendly bye-laws that will enhance the growth and development of our local government, Obasa said”.
The crux of the event was marked the extensive debate on the proposed bills with enlightenment on the embedded benefits to the local government and the people if pass into bye-law.
The following proposed bills were subjected to the public hearing as it affects the different aspect of life ranging from environmental sanitization, child Rights protection, prohibition of training around the perimeter fence of primary school, corporate /mobile loading and offloading of haulage and bill for bye-laws on Revenue items.
The stakeholders in their contributions implored the legislative to make the proposed bye-laws document available to CDC and others for proper study and recommendation or critique where necessary.
While the members of CDA and CDC were charged to give the proposed bye-laws document swift attention among their members for widespread.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. Idris Bolaji Muse Ariyoh appreciated the legislators for good job done on the proposed bye-laws towards making the local government a better place while also promised to continue to give the arm the robust support needed for smooth operation in carrying out the huge task ahead of them.
The public hearing had in attendance political leaders, Community leaders, religious bodies, Artisan, security agencies and other related stakeholders.
