A former Governor of Edo State, Senator Oserheimen Osunbor has revealed the cause of the feud between governor obaseki and his predecessor Adams Oshiomhole as breakdown of trust.

Gov Obaseki is contesting for a second term on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party while his predecessor is backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Professor Osunbor said it was unfortunate that the duo fell apart despite being so close at a point that Obaseki was Oshiomhole’s best man at his wedding in 2015.

The former governor, explained that he intervened when the crisis came to the fore but his interventions were unsuccessful because of the irredeemable breakdown of trust between the two political gladiators.

“As a former governor of Edo State, I considered it a point of duty to reach out to and settle the differences between my successors in office, especially given the fact that we belong to the same political party.

“Mind you, these two gentlemen had been the best of friends for many years to the extent that Godwin Obaseki was the best man at Oshiomhole’s wedding in May 2015.

“Speaking with each of them separately, it became clear to me rather sadly, that the trust between them had broken down irredeemably. I cannot go into the details publicly as this would be inappropriate.

“That is better done by them and not by me. They are more than capable to speak for themselves,” Osunbor said.
