Former chief of air staff, Abubakr Sodiq wins Bauchi APC governorship primaries.

The immediate past chief of air staff, Sadique Abubakar, has clinched the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state.

The former chief of air staff, served from 2015 to January 2021 before President Muhammadu Buhari replaced him and other service chiefs.

Immediately after been relived from his duties, the president later appointed him as Nigeria’s ambassador to Chad. He has resigned from that appointment.

Abubakar polled 370 votes to clinch the party’s ticket during the exercise on Thursday.

Coming a distance second is Halliru Jika, senator representing Bauchi central, who polled 278 votes.

Other governorship hopefuls such as Nura Manu got 269 votes, Musa Babayo had 70 votes; and Mahmud Maijama’a secured eight votes.

On the other hand, Umar Mohammed Bago, a house of representatives member, has been elected as the APC governorship candidate in Niger state.

Hon Bago, who currently represents Chachanga federal constituency in the house of representatives won the governorship ticket after polling 540 votes.

Idris Malagi and Sani Ndanusa polled 386 and 84, respectively, to place second and third in the primary election.
