Lagos State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Olufemi Odubiyi has tasked the Vice Chancellor and management of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo Campus to come up with needed scientific developments to assist the government in alleviating the welfare and wellbeing of the citizenry.

Mr. Odubiyi stated this at an interactive session organised by the Ministry to discuss the need for the management of LASU to partner with the state government in developing science and technology as a way of transforming a developing economy to a developed economy.

He said the Ministry is prepared to exchange ideas and collaborate with the University at all times on research and development, especially on agriculture, fishery, waste management and building materials which will be inculcated into government policy and programmes.

While calling for an active collaboration with the private and public sectors on Research and Development (R&D), Odubiyi challenged the State University to also focus their research on alternative power generation using waste and wind for the State.

Responding, the LASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Olarenwaju  Fagbohun expressed gratitude to the State Government for its support while commending the laudable gesture of the Commissioner in recognizing the role of the University and the use of research and development to improve the lives of Lagosians.

He stated that he is committed to ensuring that the university meets up with the challenge from the present administration, through the Ministry.
