Free Sowore or face National unrest – RevolutionNow tells Buhari

Presidential candidates and aspirants of certain political parties that took part in the general elections of 2019 and the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council called for the unconditional release of Mr Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress.

Under the aegis of ‘ Third Force, ‘ candidates and aspirants made this call through a statement signed on Tuesday by seven of them.

The statement, which circulated via e-mail, stated that President Muhammadu Buhari should be reminded that the Nigerian constitution did not permit human rights violations.

Tope Fasua, 2019 presidential candidate, Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party ; Okey Samuel Mbonu, Labour Party ; SKC Ogbonnia, All Progressive Presidential Congress candidate and Thomas-Wilson Ikubese of the Alliance for New Nigeria.

Others are Emmanuel Etim, Change Nigeria Party; Ayodele O. Favour, Young Progressive Party; and Clement Jimbo, Social Democratic Party.

The statement said, “We, the Coalition of former 2019 Presidential Aspirants and Candidates, under the aegis of the Third Force Forum, are hereby calling for the unconditional release of one of our compatriots, Mr Omoyele Sowore, who was arrested by a government agency on August 2, 2019, pursuant to plans for a Nigerian protest march ; which is within his full constitutional rights.”

Sowore’s detention has also been said by the leadership of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council to be able to cause national unrest.

This was indicated in a statement in Abakaliki on Tuesday by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council President Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

The group noted that contrary to what the DSS thought of arresting the political activist, his continued detention turned him into an international figure.
