CONFERENCE 57 CPS TO HOLD LAGOS MEDIA RETREAT TAGGED: ‘IBEJU 2019’.


The Association of Chief Press Secretaries {CPS} for Executive Chairmen across the 57 Local Government Areas’ and Local Council Development Areas’ in Lagos State will embark on the annual media retreat.

This year’s Lagos media retreat is tagged: ‘Ibeju 2019’.

The media retreat for Conference 57 CPS will hold at Ibeju, in Lagos Palms Beach Resort, Ibeju-Lekki LGA, from October 18th to 20th, 2019.

While the Conference 57 CPS appreciate Executive Chairmen in Lagos State for their trust and confidence towards the personal development of media aides in the grassroots, and for the overall objectives of Council Chairmen administrative diligence, they also wish to reiterate efforts of Council Chairmen for their financial support towards ensuring that the media retreat becomes part and parcel of every CPS in the execution of primary assignments at various LGAs’ and LCDAs’.

The maiden edition of Conference 57 media retreat was held in Badagry, last year 2018.

The ‘mouthpiece of the grassroots’ were hosted by the three Executive Chairmen in Badagry axis, namely: Hon. Olusegun Onilude of Badagry LGA, Hon. Gbenu Hunnugbe of Badagry-West, and Hon. Samson Olatunde of Olorunda LCDA.

Prominent and accomplished media and I.T {Information Technology} experts graced the three days occasion, and exposed CPS to continuous process of training, retraining and training as professional antidote towards relevance and excellence delivery of job task as grassroot media aides.

Veteran broadcaster, Tokunbo Ojekunle was one of the guest speakers at the CPS media retreat in Badagry. He spoke on the importance of managing information of Council Chairmen as CPS. He enjoined CPS to embrace the value of training, retraining and training.

Google experts, Bola Olukoju engaged CPS on strategies that will enhance the image of Executive Chairmen on the various social media platforms. CPS as a group was enlightened on how to manage the image of their Principals’ on social media platforms.

Sequel to these, grassroot media aides has gone on to maximize benefits of the maiden media retreat in Badagry on subsequent assignments. Such of these includes ground breaking media awareness for the All Progressives Congress {APC} campaign of His Excellency, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Deputy, His, Excellency Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat at the 2019 gubernatorial election.

The Conference 57 CPS also embarked on strategic media awareness for the entire APC candidates at the Senate, Federal House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly.

These includes projecting impact of respective Council Chairmen in the successful victory of APC candidates for the 2019 general elections.

For this year’s media retreat tagged: ‘Ibeju 2019’, the theme is ‘Aiding the State Government with Effective News Reportage from the LGs and LCDAs’.

Conference 57 CPS will have the singular honour and presence of His Excellency, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, deliver a paper presentation on ‘Aiding the State Government with Effective News Reportage from the LGs and LCDAs’.

Hon. Kolade David Alabi, who is the President of Association of Local Government of Nigeria {ALGON} and Executive Chairman of Bariga LCDA, shall be one of the special guest speakers. He will deliver a paper presentation on ‘Local Government and Media Management’.

Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Chairman, Hon. Oloruntoba Oke, and Lawmaker, representing Shomolu Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Rotimi Olowo, shall be delivering a keynote address on ‘Media and the grassroots’.

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Comrade Sesan Daini would declare the Lagos media retreat tagged ‘Ibeju 2019’ open on October 18, 2019.

The Chairman of this year’s retreat committee, CPS Ayodele Ayeyemi, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the group {CONF. 57 CPS}, said the media retreat would be educative, interactive and beneficial to Media aides and their respective Council Chairmen.

Chairman of Conference 57 CPS, Oseni Owolabi Ajimomuya, who was also chairman of the maiden media retreat held in Badagry 2018, said the media retreat was designed to train, improve and polish the Chief Press Secretaries {CPS} of Conf. 57 CPS and to the benefit of the 57 Chairmen in Lagos State.

He emphasized on the fact that writing news report in the grassroots and for the general public is different from one community to the other. CPS Oseni from Shomolu LGA said CPS will have to write for Egun tribe in Badagry, the Aworis’ in Alimosho, Ojokoro and Ijanikin, the Ijebu tribes in Epe, and for visitors to understand the dynamism of news reporting peculiar to different LGAs’ and LCDAs’.

In view of the aforementioned, CPS Oseni Owolabi Ajimomuya on behalf of the Conf. 57 CPS has reiterated the fact that the entire Executive Chairmen across the 57 LGAs’ and LCDAs’ in Lagos State are working and have performed excellently within 730 days in office.

As Conf. 57 CPS, the core philosophy as grassroot media aides is to project administrative functions of Council Chairmen.

In furtherance to this, CPS utilize administrative results of Executive Chairmen to project the THEMES of His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu towards a greater Lagos in the grassroots.

Ibeju 2019 Lagos media retreat for CPS in the grassroots is another opportunity to re-awaken media awareness in the grassroots for the administration of the All Progressives {APC} elected public office holders in Lagos State.
